The right to repair, a new eco-design regulation that also includes a "digital product passport," and "product as a service" are new legal requirements for manufacturers of electrical and electronic equipment at the European level.
The goal is to make products last longer. To stop them breaking down so quickly. To make them easier to repair.
Electronics have the fastest growing waste stream in the world. Almost 60 million tons per year. Too much of which ends up in landfills before it should. They could still be used or certain parts could be recovered from them.
